Role and Responsibilities
Accelare Business Architect Consultants play a key role in…

Aligning client strategic goals and objectives with decisions regarding; capabilities, sourcing, organization, products and services and key business and IT initiatives.
Acting as proponents for Accelare’s Dynamic Business Architecture^™ framework, the Business Architect works to develop an integrated view of the enterprise using a repeatable approach, cohesive framework (preferably in WhatFirst), and available industry standard techniques (e.g., Blue Ocean tools).
Analyzing the activities of a particular business unit or line of business and recommending the projects that the business unit should perform to develop or improve the capabilities to achieve its business objectives in the most effective and efficient way.
Illustrating the alignment (or lack thereof) between strategic goals and key business decisions regarding products and services; partners and suppliers; organization; capabilities; and key business and IT initiatives.
Analyzing of business drivers and business operations, through the use of business analysis frameworks and related networks that link these aspects of the enterprise together.
Developing an integrated view of the business, in the context of the enterprise, using a repeatable approach, cohesive framework, and available industry standard techniques.
Providing direct input into the governance cycle for the funding, oversight, and realization of business projects.
Ensuring that business and IT projects are aligned to support the achievement of key goals and specific business scenarios are considered.

Developing a business architecture strategy based on a situational awareness of various business scenarios and motivations.
Directing and managing large-scale strategic business transformation projects
Creating Blue Ocean, Emerging Business Opportunities or New Growth Platforms
Planning and deploying both business and IT initiatives; including strategic sourcing
Modeling business capabilities similar to/related to Accelare’s Dynamic Business Architecture framework
Capturing the tactical and strategic enterprise goals that provide traceability through the organization and are mapped to metrics that provide ongoing governance.
Describing the primary business functions of the enterprise and distinguish between customer-facing, supplier-related, business execution and business management functions.
Defining the data shared across the enterprise and the relationships between those data.
Capturing the relationships among roles, capabilities and business units, the decomposition of those business units into subunits, and the internal or external management of those units.
Publishing thought pieces/case studies on Business Architecture and related topics
Speaking at Business Architecture and related conferences
Content developer around Business Architecture and related topics (Wikis, BAWG, TOGAF, BASIG, etc)
Annual budgeting/financial planning

Skills and Qualifications

Desired Skills:

Has a broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and varying degrees of appreciation for strategy, capabilities and processes, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance
The ability to recognize structural issues within the organization, functional interdependencies and redundancies. Those issues may exist in role alignment, process gaps and overlaps, and business capability maturity gaps
The ability to apply architectural principles methods, and tools to business solutions
The ability to assimilate and correlate disconnected documentation and drawings, and articulate their collective relevance to the organization and to high-priority business issues
Experience using model-based representations that can be adjusted as required to collect, aggregate or disaggregate complex and conflicting information about the business
The ability to visualize and create high-level models that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature the business architecture
Experience modeling business processes using a variety of tools and techniques (preference for Capability-based approach)
Exceptional communication and facilitation skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization; this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualizations
The ability to act as liaison conveying information needs of the business to IT and data constraints to the business; applies equal conveyance regarding business strategy and IT strategy, business processes and work flow automation, business initiatives and IT initiatives, and benefit realization of service delivery
Extensive experience planning and deploying either business or IT initiatives (preference for both)
Must be a team player able to work effectively at all levels of an organization with the ability to influence others to move toward consensus. Must be highly reliable, trustworthy, honest, and commitment oriented
Strong situational analysis and decision making abilities
Fluent in Microsoft suite of products including MS office, Visio, Project and familiarity with SharePoint
