BAA Members,
With the onset of summer, thoughts often turn to taking a break, a vacation. But at the BAA, we are instead accelerating our efforts and making significant inroads in advancing the awareness, recognition and reputation of Business Architecture and the Business Architecture Association.
Since the beginning of 2010, we have made the following notable accomplishments:
- Established and organized the First Annual Chicago Collaborative Professional Association Conference, a joint effort to be held this fall between six professional organizations (BAA, IIBA, PMI, IFA. IMC, DAMA) exploring practitioner capabilities within each practice area and establishing boundaries between them.
- Developed a plan to brand and market the BAA
- Initiated efforts to create BAA certification criteria and exam
- Created an outline for the Business Architecture Body of Knowledge content
- Received mention in several widely published white papers:
-
- Business Architecture: A New Opportunity for Consultants? by Dr. Rick Hubbard, published in the Institute of Management Consultants, USA.
- Certifications Are No Longer Optional by Bart Perkins, published by Business Week/Computer World
- A Case Study: IT Transformation at Motorola by Keith Leust and Sam Desai, published by ITBusinessEdge.com
- Business Analyst to Business Architect: To Infinity. . . and Beyond by Jack Hilty and Cathy Brunsting, published by Business Architects Association
- Redefined board member roles to better align with organizational goals
- Seated a new President of the Chicago Chapter, Director of Corporate Affairs and Director of Communications
- Worked to create and maintain a collaborative, supportive relationship between professional organizations of related practice areas, such as IIBA and IMC.
We are witnessing an increasing level of interest in Business Architecture and the BAA from corporate clients, academic institutions, professional training providers, conference providers, and other professional organizations and individuals in the corporate arena, with a particular interest in certification. In order to build on the momentum we have established and continue to grow the BAA and solidify its presence in the marketplace, we are calling on all members to take an active role to contribute to this effort.
We are embarking on a major push to formalize the Business Architecture Body of Knowledge and are seeking white papers, case studies, and other relevant artifacts. We are also being offered opportunities to speak at professional conferences and other events. If you are interested in sharing your knowledge and getting some professional recognition and exposure, please contact Keith Leust at keithleust@yahoo.com or Tom Clancy at thomas.k.clancy@gmail.com.
Other committee posts are also available. Committee chair contact information is available on the BAA web site. Make the most of your BAA membership. We are here to serve you.
Detailed information about the First Annual Chicago Collaborative Professional Association Conference on September 17 will be distributed in the next few weeks. Please plan to attend. There has never been anything like it.
Thank you for your continued support.
